## Adjectives (Describing Words) – Class 1 English Grammar

Today we will learn **Adjectives (Describing Words)** in a very easy way.

### What is an Adjective?

An adjective is a word that describes a person, place, animal, or thing.

**Definition:**

Words that tell us more about a noun are called **Adjectives** or **Describing Words**.

### Examples

* A **red** ball

* A **big** elephant

* A **sweet** mango

* A **beautiful** flower

In these sentences, red, big, sweet, and beautiful are adjectives because they describe nouns.

## Why Do We Use Adjectives?

Adjectives make our sentences more interesting and meaningful.

### Example

Without adjective:

* This is a ball.

With adjective:

* This is a red ball.

The second sentence gives more information about the ball.
